Even though the divorce rate has increased dramatically--approaching 25 percent in some urban areas--the rate for China as a whole is still around one forth that of the United States, where the divorce rate is over 50 percent. Recent data in China revealed that divorce applications have increased since February 24. Marriage office officials believe that the reason is caused by husbands having to spend more time with each other, due to staying in homes, complying with quarantine, and fierce discussions between them.
